Surprise Valley Locale

January 28, 2006 Photo: Phil Fortier Three of us followed Ed's tracks up out of the Surprise valley, near Stevens Pass. It dumped a lot of dry powder, we got really wet, and we even skied a little. Soon we were wet enough to call it a day, which was probably the right call considering how long it took us to thrash down our poorly-chosen route back to the car. It was crazy deep; I came to a full stop on a 20 degree slope. Open slopes would have been insane, albeit dangerous.
