The Ski Surface Area Calculator
|
Welcome to my ski surface area calculator. This is an integration-based algorithm, using only two assumptions: that the ski's sidecut is parabolic, and
that the ratio of tip to tail length is 1.3 (experimental values). With these two assumptions one can uniquely determine the
parabola defining the ski's shape, allowing for a closed-form integral to calculate the surface area.
Enter the contact length in centimeters and the tip, waist, and tail widths in
millimeters. The surface area is given in square centimeters. This area calculation finds the area of the ski between the tip contact
point and the tail contact point. Please let me know if you run into any issues or have
some suggestions - freshiez@freshiez.net.
